What is a helmet wiper?
A helmet wiper, also called a visor wiper, is a small powered wiper that mounts on the visor of a motorcycle helmet and clears rain while you ride. BIKERGUARD is the original electric helmet visor wiper. It was designed in Slovenia, launched on Kickstarter and is now ridden in rain across Europe, the UK, the USA and Australia.
The unit weighs about as much as a pair of sunglasses, runs on a brushless motor, is fully waterproof and is switched on from a wireless remote on the handlebar. When the rain stops you snap it off and drop it in a pocket.
Why riders choose a wiper over sprays and gloves
- It works at every speed. Water-repellent sprays need airflow to clear the visor, so they fail in town, in traffic and in the spray behind trucks. A wiper clears the visor whether you are doing 20 or 120.
- Both hands stay on the bars. Wiping with a glove means taking a hand off the controls in the worst possible conditions. The remote is one button on the handlebar.
- Nothing to reapply. Sprays wear off in one wet ride. The wiper blade lasts a season and slides off in seconds when it needs replacing.
How BIKERGUARD attaches to the helmet
A slim plastic linear guide is fixed to the visor with two screws, and the wiper unit clicks onto it. Every kit includes a second guide, so one wiper serves two helmets. Riders who prefer not to drill can use the self-adhesive visor mount instead. The visor opens and closes normally with the wiper in place, and Pinlock inserts are not in the way; a free anti-fog foil is included for the inside of the visor.
What comes in the box
The BIKERGUARD Kit comes as a Starter Kit with the wiper, remote, mounts, charging cable and anti-fog foil, or as the Ultimate Kit which adds spare blades and extra mounts. Spare blades, remotes and mount sets are available separately, and every unit carries a 3-year warranty.
Tested by people who ride in the rain
Samples were sent to the Aprilia racing team and the Piaggio group, and police motorcycle fleets in Slovenia, Hungary and Germany have evaluated it. Motorcycle News, RideApart, Core77 and dozens of YouTube reviewers have put it through real downpours; you can watch their videos in our news section.
Beware of copies
Since the Kickstarter campaign, lookalike "motorcycle helmet wipers" have appeared on marketplaces. They use cheap brushed motors, are not waterproof and are not covered by our warranty. BIKERGUARD is sold only through this shop and our authorised dealers.
Helmet Wiper FAQ
Yes. BIKERGUARD sweeps rain off the visor with a soft blade driven by a brushless motor, the same principle as a car wiper. Water-repellent sprays stop working at low speed and in the mist behind vehicles; a wiper keeps working at any speed. Independent reviews from MCN, RideApart and many YouTube channels show it in real rain.
Most full-face and modular helmets with a standard curved visor. The wiper slides onto a small plastic linear guide that is fixed to the visor with two screws, and a second guide is included so you can move the unit between two helmets. A self-adhesive, no-drill mount is available for riders who prefer not to drill the visor.
Yes. The visor opens and closes normally. Most riders snap the wiper on when it starts raining and take it off again when the road dries; it takes a second either way.
Yes. The Pinlock pins are not in the way, and every kit includes a free anti-fog foil for the inside of the visor so you get a clear view on both sides.
With the wireless remote on the handlebar: one button, IPX6 waterproof, powered by a replaceable CR2032 cell. The wiper also has its own button, so it keeps working if the remote is lost or flat. Lost remotes can be replaced and paired in a few steps.
They are mostly the same thing: a wiper mounted on the helmet visor, which is what BIKERGUARD is. "Motorcycle wiper" is also used for windscreen wipers on scooters and touring bikes. For that we make Scooty, a mini wiper for scooter and city-bike windscreens at speeds up to 50 km/h.
Blades wear like car wiper blades and slide off in seconds; spare blades come in 2-packs from our shop. BIKERGUARD carries a 3-year warranty, and knock-off copies sold on marketplaces are not covered by it.
